Frequently I am asked this question: "Can an adult learn how to play the piano?" The answer is quite simple: of course! Why not? Sometimes when we are adults we set limits to ourselves and think that some things can only be learnt at a younger age. This is not true. Simply, adults learn differently, so the teacher will adapt his style accordingly. And once they start learning, they will be pleasantly surprised by their musical achievements. The learning cycle will follow a general flow: learning new concepts, applying them through practice, reviewing theory elements, and then more practice! The pieces proposed are interesting for adult learners, and again they will reflect different styles, progressively going through the skills needed to play, one day, their dream music. Adults starting piano are driven by their motivation, which will allow them to progress generally very well. So, the best way to start is to finally have your first lesson and realise that anything is possible!
